Dr. Manuel Rigo
Chair and Medical Director of the ‘Institut Rigo Quera Salva’, Barcelona
Having qualified with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the UAB, Barcelona in 1981, Dr. Rigo qualified as Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Córdoba in 2001. With over 30 years of experience working in the field of Scoliosis and Spinal Deformities, Dr. Rigo is highly respected for his role in the growth of conservative management of scoliosis. Through his own clinical experience and collaboration with clinicians, he has continued to develop this care with the introduction of the Rigo-Cheneau Brace and Classification Systems as well as launching the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School in 2009.
He was the first president on SOSORT 2006-2008 and an ever-present influencer in Society’s growth and direction.

Dr. Peter Newton
President, Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) Chief of Orthopaedics and Scoliosis at “Rady Children’s Hospital”, San Diego.
After a degree in bioengineering, Dr. Newton attended the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School, completing his residency and fellowship at the University of California, San Diego, and Texas Scottish Rite Hospital respectively.
Specializing in scoliosis, Dr. Newton has been involved in over 200 publications focusing on spine surgery, non-fusion techniques, and orthopaedic biomechanics.
He is lead for the well-recognized Harms Study Group which has aims to produce influential multi-center scoliosis research and is president of the foundation ‘Setting Scoliosis Straight’ Dr. Newton will be presenting the annual SRS Presidential Guest Lecture and it will be an honor to have his insight at SOSORT 2019.

Dr. Stuart Weinstein
Ignacio V Ponseti Chairman
Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at University of Iowa
Having received his medical education at the University of Iowa, Dr. Weinstein has over 40 years of research experience focused on the natural history and long-term outcomes of paediatric orthopaedic conditions, primarily spinal and hip disorders.
Much of this research has been funded by the National Institute of health and has resulted in over 220 publications. He has been lauded throughout his career and awarded for his work with honorary memberships in National Orthopaedic Associations around the world and in 2007 became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in England. He is past president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Association, American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and Paediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.
His input and guidance has been pivotal in the development of understanding the role of Conservative Care in Scoliosis management and we welcome him warmly to share his experiences and knowledge this year
